About Us

The Famous Sheffield Pie Shop has been a well know 'stop off ' on your way to and from the coast for over 30 years, originally run as an out catering business and small wholesale pie supplier selling to a few local distributors , and 'out the back door' to the locals , even if you grew up in Sheffield and attended the local primary school there is always the fond memory of Mondays being "pie day!"

As the business grew and expanded the catering and wholesale larger premises where needed and the relocation from Vogel Street to the Main West Road's old post office meant more foot traffic through the front door, as well as supplying over Forty wholesalers as far as Christchurch and the West Coast.

As of 2002 The Famous Sheffield Pie Shop has been owned and operated by husband & wife team Shane and Loretta Paterson, both qualified bakers by trade, but specialising in all aspects of traditional kiwi baking!

As the trade from the main road increased Shane and Loretta could see the benefits of concentrating solely on the quality of the pies, and decided to finish with the catering side of the business, yet a few more years with the building of the viaduct and easier access to the West Coast, alot more events were happening on the coast, the customer base grew from just the locals and coasters passing, leading to not only a demand for Famous Pies but the need to increase the product lines into cakes and biscuits etc. , this led to the wholesale side of the business folding as well.

The Famous Sheffield Pie Shop are proud to say everything is made on our premises we like to  source our ingredients locally, using flour milled from Canterbury wheat (Farmers Mill), Local Meat (Rangiora Butchery) and locally roasted Coffee (Vice Coffee)

We enjoy making everything as traditionally "KIWI" as possible and from scratch.

We provide food for self catering purposes and cakes for special occasions.

But as always our bread and butter will be the humble pie which we make so well - as we say

"Lifes Good When There's a Pie in Your Hand"
